Belated Birthday Adventures

This past weekend I got to celebrate my birthday with my family and my best friend of 20 years. This best friend of mine has been by my side (literally and/or metaphorically) since kindergarten. We went to school together for 10+ years, she lived next door to my grandparents (in my great-grandparents old house), and has even been on a few of my family vacations. She is a dear friend and I was so thrilled to be able to spend the weekend with her!
Here’s a quick recap of our friendship in three pictures:

The early days:

My sister, my best friend, and I playing at my house. We were about 7ish.

The middle years:

9th Grade. The last year we went to the same school before my mean old parents made me move far, far away.

So this weekend we visited the Bishop Arts District in Dallas. It was an awesome neighborhood with delicious food, fun shops, and enough variety to keep all seven of us entertained!

First up: Brunch at Oddfellows. We wanted one of everything!
I finally decided on a Chai Latte, cheese grits, and beignets. Everything was delicious!

After brunch it was off to wander around. What I particularly loved about this area was there was something for everyone: even my younger brother had fun! I loved exploring with some of my favorite people and I even more loved that they liked what we were exploring.

One favorite spot was the Emporium Pie Shop. My best friend declared them to be perfect in every way: delicious pies, adorable branding, lovely packaging… just perfect.

Suffice to say, the whole weekend was filled with delicious food, adventures and exploring, and dear friends and family. The perfect way to celebrate such a landmark birthday.
